Jason and Lucia are at the heart of GTA 6, working together as partners in crime as we explore Leonida through their eyes. Both are fully playable characters with their own backstories, motivations, and relationships with the people around them, while their relationship with each other is a major part of the story.

We know you can play as either character individually, but can you actually play as Jason and Lucia as a couple in GTA 6? Here’s what you need to know.

Can You Play as Jason and Lucia Together in GTA 6?

You can play as Jason and Lucia together as a couple, with one character accompanying you during activities while you control the other. You can also seamlessly switch between them during gameplay, giving you direct control over either character. However, you can’t control both characters at the same time with the same controller, and GTA 6 doesn’t have a co-op mode.

Jason or Lucia can propose hanging out at any time, and you can also call each other to invite them to an activity. They can intervene during interactions and provide assistance, take over the wheel for you, visit bars and strip clubs together, play pool, go mini golfing, kayak, rob stores and banks, and even hold hands and kiss. You can also simply spend time together at their hideouts, where they’ll go through everyday routines such as having coffee and sleeping together.

Their relationship is more than just a story element, too. Rockstar has built it into the game’s systems, with the strength of their relationship affecting some of the interactions available to them. Spending time together and maintaining their relationship can unlock additional interactions, while neglecting it can make some of them unavailable.

When it comes to robberies and other dangerous activities, the two can work together in different ways. For example, one can drive while the other handles the shooting, and you can decide which character you want to control during supported situations.

Some story missions may restrict character switching for narrative reasons at certain points, but the broader experience lets you play as Leonida, Jason, Lucia, or both.

You can also explore the open world on your own and don’t have to play them as a couple if you’re not interested in that side of GTA 6. Rockstar has confirmed that Jason and Lucia can remain partners in crime, but their romantic relationship depends on how much effort you put into it.
