Marietta police arrived at a two-bedroom apartment on Bells Ferry Road in Marietta, Georgia, on September 24, 2026. While the check was originally supposed to be for two children, what they found was so much more horrific than they expected. They discovered that instead of just two, there were 15 children in the apartment, ranging from 1 to 17 years old.

There were supposed to be three adults in the apartment, but the authorities couldn’t reach them. That’s when the detectives decided to work on a warrant, which they eventually got. When they did, the apartment door opened, and the fifteen children came out. This gave the detectives access to search the apartment, but they didn’t like what they saw.

According to the police, the eighteen occupants were living in a two-bedroom apartment with just nine beds. This wasn’t all, because there was no toilet paper, only one jar of peanut butter and a box of uncooked pasta for the children to eat, a blanket with mold growing on it, and marijuana allegedly left somewhere accessible to the children.

All of this was more than enough for the authorities to take action against the three adults. The adults were identified as 40-year-old Ashley Jackson, 41-year-old Derrick Jackson, and 36-year-old Briana Reynolds.

When the children were being led outside of the apartment, the police reported that they were oddly quiet. They didn’t speak or look at each other and were ultimately relocated to safer places. Commenters believe that the lack of social skills could be because of the unnatural atmosphere the children had to grow up in.

As for the adults, they each face 30 counts of first- and second-degree cruelty to children, along with marijuana possession charges. Derrick Jackson also faces an additional charge related to allegedly crossing state/county guard lines with weapons, intoxicants, or drugs without consent. The authorities also allege that he was hiding marihuana in his rectum in the county correctional facility and brought it into the Cobb County jail.
