Streamer Tried to Co-Stream GTA 6. Netflix Gave Him Bad News

The Netflix Extended Look that Rockstar Games has in store for Grand Theft Auto 6 is the talk of the internet. As expected, many content creators are hoping to capitalize on the opportunity to create content for their communities. Unfortunately for them, they can’t exactly talk about the leaks or any unauthorized content.

One creator by the name of Joseph_Witty tried his luck by directly calling Netflix customer service on his stream. He asked them if content creators are allowed to co-stream the extended look that will stream on the platform. Clearly, the answer wasn’t what he was hoping for.

The Netflix representative stated that creators aren’t allowed to co-stream the GTA 6 Extended Look while it’s live for the first six hours. This is likely because the Extended Look will then be uploaded to Rockstar’s official YouTube channel, where anyone can watch it. Netflix and Rockstar Games likely have a 6-hour exclusive contract, and attempting to reshare or stream GTA 6’s content before the exclusivity period is over could result in a copyright strike.

Creators May Have to Find Another Way to React

Not being able to stream the GTA 6 Extended Look likely won’t stop streamers from still making content on it. Streamers usually just stream their reaction to things that could get them a copyright strike, such as PPV sports matches, so it makes sense that some streamers will do the same over here.

Additionally, a handful of content creators visited the Rockstar North office last month. One of them even stated that they would share exclusive content as soon as the Extended Look is out. This suggests that Rockstar may have already partnered with some creators, which could mean that some streamers will upload videos unrelated to the Extended Look before the exclusivity period ends.
