Discord Called to Help Rockstar Capture GTA 6 Leaker

After a series of unauthorized Grand Theft Auto 6 footage leaked across social media and different online platforms, Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two Interactive have decided to take action. The first step was filing a DMCA subpoena request in federal court on August 20, 2026.

This subpoena seeks information from Discord that could help identify accounts connected to the surfacing of unauthorized footage. The request is likely to help Take-Two determine who is behind the online leaks, whether it’s one person or a group of people parading as the CyberLeek persona.

Rockstar is reportedly seeking information such as:

Account identification information
Registration email addresses
IP addresses
Phone numbers
Other information that could help identify users
Records associated with accounts involved in distributing the material

Several Discord communities are included in these filings, including those of the content creator DarkViperAU and Ødyssey.gg. Material connected to the leaks was allegedly discussed or distributed in these communities, though that doesn’t necessarily mean that the leaks originated from there. In particular, DarkViperAU has already denied involvement, stating that he doesn’t know anything and there aren’t any clips of the leaks in either of his Discords.

Discord isn’t the only company Take-Two reached out to, as Microsoft also received the same request. The gaming company’s request extends beyond Xbox-related information, and includes data connected to OneDrive and GitHub.

GitHub Is Now Part of Take-Two’s GTA 6 Investigation

Copyrighted GTA 6 material was also reportedly posted on GitHub. Since GitHub is owned by Microsoft, it’s also part of the same subpoena request extended to the parent company. Not to mention, leaked GTA 6 content is also hosted on the platform, which is why Take-Two sent a DMCA takedown notice.

Both Discord and Microsoft have reportedly been given until September 4, 2026, to respond to the requests. A Discord spokesperson also stated that they “review and comply with valid subpoenas” when they receive them, “as is standard routine for companies” such as theirs.
