Oklahoma Woman Tries to Run Over Ex, but a Bystander Rams Her Car to Stop Her

Most crimes are usually done because of some sort of revenge. One of the most common sorts of revenge has something to do with a breakup or relationship that just didn’t work out. A good example of this happened on September 23 in Ponca City, Oklahoma.

The police were notified about reports of a hit-and-run. Upon reaching the place, they realized that the alleged suspect was 61-year-old Ruth Ann Harper, who was seemingly trying to run over a man with her car. It didn’t take long for investigators to discover that the man she was trying to run over was apparently her ex-boyfriend, who had broken up with her.

The security footage that captured the entire incident showed Harper repeatedly ramming the other man’s dark-colored vehicle. The other man eventually got out on foot, and Harper continued chasing him, even allegedly continuing to pursue him after the police arrived and attempted to stop her.

In a weird turn of events, a bystander used their own car to ram Harper’s car. This apparently stopped her before she could hit the man. The police quickly surrounded Harper’s vehicle and arrested her. The fortunate thing is that the other man wasn’t hurt, despite the dangerous situation he was in.

It was finally revealed that the man and Harper had reportedly been in a two-year relationship that had recently ended. It’s safe to say that the separation was less than amicable.

Harper Has More Than A Couple of Charges

While some initially assumed that the other man may have cheated on Harper to push her to take such drastic measures, her past actions don’t really give off that feeling. Harper was previously reportedly arrested on preliminary complaints of multiple counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.

However, prosecutors formally filed additional charges. According to reports, these charges include two counts of assault, battery, or assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs, reckless driving, malicious injury to property over $1,000, and leaving the scene of an accident involving damage. It’s safe to say that she’ll be busy in court for a good while.
