Rockstar revealed a bunch of new information about GTA 6 in a Dazed Digital interview, confirming a long-speculated in-game feature: social media. It has been teased and hinted at multiple times in previous trailers, and Rockstar has finally shared a few details about how players can interact with it.
GTA 6’s Social Media Feeds Will Be Part of the World
Rockstar has confirmed that working social media feeds are part of the world of Leonida and can be accessed through in-game phones. The Dazed piece gives a specific example involving Jason and Lucia, with Jason driving a vehicle while Lucia browses a social media feed on her phone in the passenger seat.
The interview also provides another example involving Real Dimez, explaining how players can follow their music journey through viral social media posts. This means the feeds won’t simply be a background feature, but will also reflect what’s happening throughout Leonida, its key characters, and major events.

Since GTA 6 is a satirical take on 2020s America, social media was always likely to play a role in Rockstar’s portrayal of modern culture. Rockstar also sees social media as part of Vice City’s broader culture of celebrity, vanity, and rapidly changing trends.

In both trailers, we’ve seen several social media feeds showing all sorts of characters doing or saying absurd things. We’ve also seen NPCs recording things happening around them, and it would also be interesting to see whether some of those viral events eventually appear on the in-game feeds.

More details on exactly how the system works haven’t been shared yet, but there are plenty of possibilities for how Rockstar could expand on it. Players could potentially follow different creators, watch live feeds, leave comments and reactions, or even share their own captures and stories.
Previous GTA titles have always featured emails, phone calls, and messaging systems, and perhaps GTA 6 will take those interactions a step further through social media. For now, we know that social media will be more than a background detail in Leonida.
