Sydney Man Allegedly Recreates a GTA Mission With a Highway Crash and Carjacking

Most alleged criminals usually try to ensure that their loved ones don’t know about their lives of crime. However, one 36-year-old man in Sydney apparently had a different idea when he blasted through a welfare check on September 12. This isn’t all, because he had his two children in the vehicle as well.

Naturally, the officers attempted to stop him, but he allegedly refused. The authorities had to pursue the vehicle because of how erratically the driver was driving, but that ultimately resulted in the car crashing into another vehicle when it started driving onto the wrong side of the motorway.

The man allegedly didn’t stop there and attempted to steal another car. He allegedly threatened a female driver with a knife, forcing her out of the vehicle before stealing it. A citizen allegedly attempted to intervene and remove the stolen vehicle’s keys, but the police state that he was cut on his hand.

The man then allegedly continued to drive along the motorway with his two children in the stolen vehicle. However, the police ultimately stopped him near the Greystanes Road overpass. An off-duty sergeant used the assistance of the public to restrain the man until the authorities arrived.

Things Didn’t End Well For the Man

Fortunately for the children, they only suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital just in case. However, the 36-year-old man had a slew of charges. The charges included not stopping during a police pursuit, dangerous driving, and robbery with an offensive weapon. He was taken to the hospital, but likely won’t be without police guard for a while.

Naturally, the entire incident was extremely public. Many bystanders took videos of the chase, resulting in it ultimately blowing up on social media. As expected, most are expressing their concern for the children, especially since they didn’t choose to be taken on such a wild ride.

On the other hand, some are comparing the situation with hostage missions in the Grand Theft Auto series, with one commentator stating it reminded them of when they steal a car in the game and drive before the other passengers can leave.
