The Smoke Grenade is set to return once more to GTA 6, after featuring in Vice City, San Andreas, and GTA 5. Smoke Grenades are meant to provide temporary concealment, offering movement opportunities for advancing or retreating over open ground. However, in GTA 5 and Online, they function as a kind of tear gas.
They deal damage over time and are handy for extracting enemies from behind cover or blocking off certain routes.
It’s unclear whether they will function the same way in GTA 6, or whether we’ll get standard smoke grenades that are meant as concealment. Given the more realistic spin, we might get Smoke Grenades for concealment and Gas Grenades for damage over time, but we’ll have to wait and see.
The Smoke Grenades were spotted in the first leaks in 2022, and are based on the M18 Smoke Grenade in real life.
