After the Extended Look, we got a ton of new information from those who attended the previews at Rockstar North, which finally gave us a straight answer to whether we could buy properties in GTA 6, and even which kinds of properties we’d be able to buy.
So, without further ado, here’s all you need to know about properties in GTA 6.
Can We Buy Properties in GTA 6?
Yes, we will be able to buy properties in GTA 6, as confirmed by some of the information gleaned during the previews. However, we won’t be able to buy safehouses, judging from the information we got out of the GTA 6 previews at Rockstar North.
What is unclear for now is whether we’ll be able to buy businesses or not. The reasoning behind not being able to buy safehouses is that Jason and Lucia are a couple on the run, and it wouldn’t make sense for them to be able to buy properties. However, drug dens, labs, or farms don’t exactly require a legitimate form of identification to run.

So there is still a chance we’ll be able to buy shady businesses.
We will be able to buy garages, however, as confirmed by TGG’s previews at Rockstar North. I don’t think it makes all that much sense that we can buy garages and not safehouses, but it’s obviously important to the narrative.
What Properties Will We Be Able to Buy in GTA 6?
As confirmed in the above livestream, we will be able to buy garages and not safehouses. Different safehouses will be made available to us throughout the story, however.
When asked about safehouses in the full interview with IGN, Rob Nelson had this to say when talking about safehouses in the game. “But this is not their own house, they’re staying in someone else’s house.”
He also makes it clear that they have multiple safehouses with “This is one of their Safehouses.”
It’s unclear exactly what type of garages we’ll be able to buy in GTA 6 at this point, but it’s likely that they’ll draw some inspiration from GTA Online, and have smaller ones all the way up to big 20+ car garages. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see. But at least we do have confirmation that we’ll be able to buy some properties in GTA 6.
