Woman Opens Car Door to Check on Kids at Trader Joe’s, Then Their Mom Attacks Her

Shoppers outside of a Trader Joe’s in Whittier, California, likely weren’t expecting front-row tickets to an entire brawl on September 28. A viral video posted on social media shows two women fighting in the parking lot while the Trader Joe’s employees and other bystanders attempted to separate them.

Things reportedly happened when a bystander named Ani Sanati noticed that there were unattended children inside a car parked outside the Trader’s Joe. She seemingly was concerned, likely because of the Californian heat, and decided to check on the children by opening the car door.

However, things took an unexpected turn when the children’s mother arrived at the scene just then. This prompted a confrontation that turned physical. The video itself begins after the fight had already broken out, so it makes sense that most commenters are fairly divided on the matter.

The woman who isn’t the parent later made a post on Instagram to share her side of things. According to her, she noticed that the mother had left her children alone in the car for more than 20 minutes during hot weather. Not only that, but several people had already gathered around the vehicle to check on the kids, and the police had already been called but hadn’t arrived.

There’s also an unverified claim that the police instructed the woman to open the unlocked vehicle, but neither of the participating parties has commented on this.

The Viral Video Shows Something Concerning

The video itself is the reason most people found out about this incident. In it, the mother is seen eventually grabbing the other woman by the hair and holding her down while repeatedly confronting her over opening the car door. The fact that things even escalated to this point has many commenters concerned, since the consensus is that the bystanders should have de-escalated the situation by then.

Another concerning fact is that the children can be heard screaming in the background. Seeing your mother attack someone can’t be a good thing, especially if the other person was allegedly only trying to help you.
