What Has Rockstar Said About Marriage in GTA 6?
In EDGE’s cover story for GTA 6, the publication directly asked Rockstar North’s head of development, Rob Nelson, whether Jason and Lucia can get married, but he refused to confirm or deny the possibility.
It’s an interesting reaction because he didn’t outright shoot down the possibility of the duo tying the knot. Rob Nelson has been fairly open about the world, its systems, and characters in this report, as well as in many other interviews and previews. The possibility of marriage, whatever the case may be, is something Rockstar seems keen to keep under wraps.
It makes sense why they’d want to do this, of course. Jason and Lucia’s development as partners, romantic or otherwise, is a big aspect of the upcoming title, and if marriage, or the lack thereof, is a key part of the story, Rockstar wouldn’t just give it away like that. This isn’t The Sims, where you can get married, break up, get married again, and feel nothing.

Still, given how much players can influence Jason and Lucia’s relationship in GTA 6, you’d expect some kind of narrative or mechanical payoff. EDGE confirms that their closeness is measured on a four-point scale, which typically increases the more time they spend together. This includes walking on the beach, kayaking, cycling, working out at the gym (once they’ve purchased a membership), or simply driving around together.
Ultimately, whatever Rockstar has planned for these characters and however much we can shape their story and personal relationship, it’ll be memorable; that much is certain. We already know that our decisions will have a bearing on how their story plays out, so perhaps one possible outcome has them getting hitched and becoming a pair of married criminals. Yeah?
