GTA 6 is set to have the most realistic police we’ve had to date in a GTA game, and escaping the cops is going to be a crucial part of the game. But what’s better than escaping the cops? Not getting chased at all, of course.
So, can you hide your identity from the police in GTA 6? We’re going to explore this, as well as the aspects of the game surrounding this vital question.
Can You Hide Your Identity from the Police in GTA 6?
Yes, you can, and there are two main methods to achieve this. The first and most obvious one is to not get spotted at all. When you commit a crime in GTA 6, make sure there are no bystanders or police present to witness your crime, and the police won’t even be dispatched, never mind knowing your identity.
In the Extended Look, we see Jason and Lucia just after they’ve committed what seems to be a clean robbery, and they drive straight past police without arousing any suspicion. Lucia even gives them a little present.

This is obviously the easier way to hide your identity, but you may also be spotted by CCTV footage.
Can You Destroy Camera Footage in GTA 6?
Rob Nelson did confirm during the previews that you can (and should) destroy CCTV footage when possible. Fail to do so, and the police will know what you look like or whether you were wearing a mask, what clothing you had on, and potentially even what weapons you were using.
They’ll also know whether you were working as a couple, so it’s always advisable to destroy footage quickly if you have time.
How this is done isn’t clear, since TGG doesn’t go into the gritty details on that, so we’ll have to wait and see. It could be as simple as a button prompt, or as complex as planting explosives.
Does Hiding Your Identity in GTA 6 Help You Escape the Cops?

Yes again, under certain circumstances. As explained above, if you hide your identity from the police but fail to take care of the wanted indicators that do appear, the cops may still recognize you and start or resume the chase. So, when being chased, we’ll have to do our best to get to a concealed area where we can change clothing, the car, and remove our mask.
Alternatively, we’ll need to get out of the Heat zone and just lie low for a while.
And that’s basically all you need to know about hiding your identity from the police in GTA 6. With careful planning, heists can be quick and clean, but if you want to do the GTA thing and get into an epic gun battle with the police, we’re free to do that as well, though it may affect our criminal profile.
The previews have confirmed that GTA 6 is largely driven by player choice, so whatever happens, you can play your way when it launches on November 19.
