How to Remove Vehicle Trackers in GTA 6

Stealing vehicles has been a core feature of the GTA series, and it’s always been a straightforward process. Based on the gameplay footage and previews released so far, Rockstar has made vehicle theft in GTA 6 more involved, especially when it comes to expensive, high-end cars. Some vehicles come equipped with trackers that can alert the cops to your location, so here’s how you can get them removed.

Removing Vehicle Trackers in GTA 6

To remove a vehicle tracker in GTA 6, you’ll need to visit a fence and unlock the relevant service through progression. However, not all trackers work the same way.

Higher-tier trackers can alert the cops to your location if you drive too slowly for too long. You’ll need to maintain a high speed while making your way to the fence to avoid triggering the tracker before you can have it removed.

Before attempting to steal a vehicle, you can use the WAINK app on your phone to scan it and check its security protections. The app shows the tools you’ll need to break into the vehicle, its tracker tier, and whether it has other security measures. It also displays the vehicle’s registration cost and potential resale value, giving you a better idea of whether it’s worth stealing.

Your progression also determines which trackers a fence can remove. Completing jobs for fences unlocks additional tools and services, including the ability to remove higher-tier trackers. This means you may encounter vehicles you can steal and drive but can’t yet register as your own because you haven’t unlocked the required service.

Once you’ve removed a vehicle’s tracker, you can register it as your own when you meet the requirements. Simply storing a stolen car in a garage won’t automatically make it a personal vehicle, so you’ll need to account for the registration process before adding it to your collection.

It’s also worth distinguishing tracker removal from vehicle Heat. Pay ‘n’ Spray can help deal with a vehicle’s Heat, but it isn’t a substitute for having a tracker removed or registering a stolen car. As you progress and unlock more fence services, acquiring and keeping stolen vehicles should become much easier.
