GTA 6 Footage Continues to Leak as Take-Two Begins Tracking the Source

A wave of unauthorized footage on GTA 6 has begun circulating, just months before the game’s official release date. The alleged person or group behind these leaks operates under the name CyberLeek and has continued releasing videos and other purported game assets across social media and other online platforms.

Rockstar Games and Take-Two haven’t issued a detailed public statement on the matter. But the scale of the leaks ensures that those at the top of the ladder know about them. There’s little to no information on who could be behind the CyberLeek persona, but some released footage suggests that the group or person may have some sort of build of the game.

These leaks come in the wake of Rockstar being about to release an extended look at GTA 6 on the streaming platform Netflix. Fortunately for Rockstar, the leaks seem to be from an older build, so those who want to see footage of the updated build will likely still tune in for any official trailers or looks.

Take-Two Has Taken Legal Action

Being Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two has filed subpoena requests in federal court. The aim of this is to seek information from Microsoft and Discord. Instead of seeking immediate legal action, the requests are aimed at obtaining information that could help Take-Two and Rockstar identify people allegedly involved in distributing the unauthorized material.

The subpoenas were filed on August 20, and one of the requests specifically asks Microsoft for records from its investigation into CuberLeek. The company reportedly has been given until September 3 to provide the requested information. Xbox CTO Scott Van Vliet stated that Microsoft is “working closely with Take-Two and Rockstar Games to support efforts to protect creative works and intellectual property.”

All of this doesn’t mean that the unauthorized material will immediately cease to appear on the internet. The account associated with CyberLeek has reportedly continued to tease more material.
