The GTA 6 file size has reportedly leaked, coming in at 210 GB, which, honestly, isn’t that bad if true. Now, we don’t normally cover leaks, but on such a small topic as the file size of a game, I honestly don’t think it’s all that bad. It could help folks prepare and clear up some space, so why not?
In short, yes, this is probably true. The @PlaystationSize account that leaked the file size is fairly well-known for data-mining the PSN store, which means something even bigger, but for now, let’s focus on that file size.
Given that it’s accompanied by the Standard Edition pricing, this file size may only apply to it, and the Ultimate Edition might need an extra few GB. We can’t know for sure, but I also came across a random comment on YouTube yesterday stating that the file size will be 211.7 GB.
Though that is weirdly specific, I think it’s common knowledge that specifics simply sound more convincing, and our commenter is probably well-aware of that. So, we can’t put much stock in that, but we’re not done here, friends.

You see, there is a certain YouTuber, and I won’t name any names here, but this YouTuber covered this leak very recently. He took one look at the account and accepted the 210 GB file size as the truth. I am almost 100% certain that this YouTuber, along with the other big ones in the GTA space, will have received codes for GTA 6 when they become available.
The fact that this person accepted this as fact and didn’t question it more speaks volumes. And do you know what that means?
The 210 GB file size is accurate, give or take a few, and I’d bet my hat on it. I’ve done some reading between the lines here, but I’m pretty certain. But that’s not all.
This means that review copies MUST BE out there already! And you know what? We weren’t included, and that just hurts.
But yeah, through a little bit of sleuthing, we’ve determined that the 210 GB file size is, indeed, most likely accurate, and that review copies are out in the wild. But before you clear exactly 210 GB and wait in anticipation, remember that Rockstar might have another patch or two lined up, so it might come in anywhere from five to 15 GB bigger.
Also, Rockstar probably hasn’t shared the file size themselves yet because it’s also anticipating a few patches. So while it’s fun to get news, let’s just wait patiently for when preloads go live. We have a whole week to figure out how to make space, so we’re all good there.
With that out of the way, let’s talk about this file size more.
The File Size is Astounding

If you’ve been keeping up with us at all, you’ll know that I already don’t know how GTA 6 will run on a base PS5 or Series S. With all the systems going into this game, I just don’t see how everything will run concurrently without melting even a PS5 Pro.
So, I was fully expecting a file size of 300-400 GB, maybe even up to 500. But again, Rockstar has done some crazy black magic and shrunk that file size all the way to 210 GB. That’s crazy, honestly. It’s the biggest map ever (in GTA history); it’s got 600k animations, tons of NPCs, vehicles, weapons, and variants of all those things.
How, Rockstar, have you done it this time? GTA 5, at launch, was 36 GB. Keep in mind that was 13 years ago, and by comparison, it had only the most basic and essential things included. I mean, you can’t even compare it to the amount of things we’ve already seen to be included in GTA 6 at launch.
Anyway, I’m rambling now. Does it blow your mind as much as it does mine?
On the off chance you enjoy my rambles, you’re the perfect candidate to subscribe to our newsletter, The Vice Gazette, in which I yammer on about all sorts of things GTA 6-related every week. I also include a banger song every week, and a screenshot from which I extract some sort of story.
