GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026, with pre-orders live now. Rockstar has finally kicked off marketing for the upcoming release with details of pricing and editions. While the release date is still a while away, here is when you can start preloading GTA 6 on your console.
When Can You Preload GTA 6?
If you pre-order GTA 6 on PS5 or Xbox Series S|X, you will be able to start preloading the title on November 12, 2026.
This gives you a week to download GTA 6 to your console so you’re ready when it officially launches. GTA 6 is expected to be a massive release, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the install size is at least 150 GB. I’d recommend deleting a few big games to free up space for GTA 6 near release.
That extra preload time will definitely come in handy as you watch the countdown to launch tick down. Rockstar has also confirmed that the physical version of Grand Theft Auto VI, which includes a download code inside the box, will be available from November 12 to support preloading ahead of launch.

Like other publishers, Rockstar Games is moving away from traditional physical releases by including a download code inside the box instead of the game itself. Red Dead Redemption 2 on the PS4 shipped on two discs due to its massive install size, and I imagine GTA 6 would have been no different had Rockstar opted for a traditional physical release. Digital sales account for the majority of game sales anyway, so it makes sense that Rockstar is choosing to skip physical media entirely.
Pre-Order GTA 6
You can pre-order GTA 6 digitally using the links below once they go live:
| Platform | Store Link |
|---|---|
| Xbox Series S|X | Xbox Store |
| PS5 | PlayStation Store |
Make sure to read up on what extra goodies you’ll get for pre-ordering GTA 6 and what comes in each edition in our dedicated guide. GTA 6 is only coming to PS5 and Xbox Series S|X, and PlayStation has confirmed that the PS5 Pro version will be enhanced and make use of the powerful variant.
I’ll update this guide with the extra preload timings when Rockstar shares them.
