Many cases of adults leaving children alone are because the adults are doing something mundane or inconsequential. However, that seemingly wasn’t the case in an incident that happened in West Bexar County, Texas. Everything started when deputies from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office responded to a theft report at a residence in West Bexar County.

Deputies arrived at the scene at approximately 2:30 PM to allegedly find 23-year-old Nataly Nichole Perez and 40-year-old Amber Nichole Robisheaux. According to the authorities, Perez had been left by the owners of the house to watch over their four children as a babysitter. However, she allegedly left them unattended inside the home for around four hours.

While this wouldn’t be too big of a deal, the babysitter had allegedly called Robisheaux to help Perez steal items from the residence. The reports don’t say Robisheaux was hired to babysit or had any prior caregiving relationship with the children. The two women allegedly fled from the house with the stolen items, though it didn’t take long for investigators to locate both of them.

According to reports, the alleged theft involved items valued between $750 and $2,500. The ages of the children are unknown, but reports state that they had been left “completely unattended” for around four hours while Perez and Robisheaux were allegedly stealing items from the residence.

Both Women Were Immediately Charged

Both women were arrested after being located by the authorities. They were booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center and charged with property theft of $750-$2,500. As the babysitter who was assigned to take care of the children, Perez also received four additional charges of abandoning or endangering a child without the intent to return, one charge for each child.

In addition to all of this, records show that a judge set a bond of $43,000 for Perez. However, no bond information has been posted relating to Robisheaux. The sheriff’s office also made an official statement about the matter, saying that leaving children unattended to commit a crime is unacceptable. The statement also confirmed that the children were safe and that those allegedly responsible were held accountable.
