Can You Sell Stolen Cars in GTA 6?

You can’t have a GTA game without the ability to steal cars. It’s one of the series’ most iconic features, dating back to the original Grand Theft Auto from 1997. However, GTA 6 makes vehicle theft more involved, introducing new security systems and more options for what you can do with a stolen vehicle. Here’s how selling stolen cars works in GTA 6.

Selling Stolen Cars in GTA 6

There are two ways to sell stolen cars in GTA 6: take them to a Pay n’ Spray or sell them to a specialized vehicle fence. Both offer a way to turn stolen vehicles into cash, but you’ll need to consider a few things before deciding which cars to steal.

Before taking a vehicle, use the WAINK app on your phone to scan it. The app reveals whether the car is locked, whether it has an alarm or tracker, which tools you’ll need to break in, its potential resale value at a Pay n’ Spray or specialized vehicle fence, and how much it would cost to register it as your own.

  • Pay n’ Spray: These shops return in GTA 6, offering basic repairs and resprays in a handful of colors. You can also sell stolen vehicles here. It’s more of a quick option to escape heat, basically.
  • Specialized vehicle fences: These contacts also purchase stolen cars and offer additional services as you progress through the campaign. Completing jobs for them unlocks new theft tools and the ability to remove vehicle trackers, especially high-tier variants, which can be necessary if you want to register certain stolen cars as your own.

You won’t necessarily have access to every service from the beginning. Both Pay n’ Sprays and specialized vehicle fences can unlock as you progress through the story, so you’ll need to work with what’s available to you.

Can You Keep Stolen Cars in GTA 6?

You can also store stolen cars in garages you’ve purchased, even if you haven’t unlocked the ability to register them as your own. As reported by TGG, Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson explained that you can keep a stolen vehicle safely in a purchased garage until you have the means to register it as a personal vehicle.

However, registering a stolen car as your own may require you to remove its tracker first, so you won’t necessarily be able to claim every car you steal right away.

Ultimately, stealing a car is only the first step. You can sell it for cash, store it in a garage, or work toward registering it as your own. The WAINK app helps you weigh your options before deciding whether a vehicle is worth the risk.

What About Wyman?

Wyman, an eccentric collector and local fixer, offers another way to acquire vehicles through special commissions. You can track down abandoned classic cars and unfinished project vehicles, restore them, and make them your own. Four vehicles in this collection are exclusive to the Ultimate Edition.

This is separate from selling stolen cars, but it’s worth knowing about if you’re interested in building a vehicle collection beyond the cars you find on the streets.
