Does GTA 6 Have Dead Eye Like RDR 2?

In the GTA 6 Extended Look, Jason appears to enter a state that is extremely similar to Dead Eye from RDR 2, during which time slows down and he’s able to get multiple shots off before the NPCs can react. This confirms that a version of Dead Eye will be in GTA 6, but it’s not exactly the same.

Here’s all you need to know.

Dead Eye is Called Focus in GTA 6

The GTA 6 version of Dead Eye is called, quite simply, Focus. It’s a state you can enter with the playable characters that slows down time, but also highlights “weak spots” in enemies, being the head and heart for (likely) most enemies you’ll face in the game. I imagine animals’ “weak spots” will differ slightly, as will armored enemies.

In the above screenshot, we see Jason activate Focus, and the areas that would instantly down an enemy are highlighted in red. Yellow areas appear to be non-lethal shots, as explained by TGG, and these areas look like they’ll disarm your enemy.

Like Deadeye, Focus acts as a consumable resource, with a bar that ticks down in the top right corner. Thus, it’s highly likely we’ll need to use either consumables or even sleep to refill our Focus. We already know we can boost our health up in GTA 6 with snacks, just like in GTA 5.

Around the 9:05 minute mark in the Extended Look, we see Jason eating a snack before the health bar pops up, all filled up.

So, with everything we know, yes, GTA 6 will have Dead Eye like RDR 2, with some changes, and it’s called Focus.

GTA 6 Will Also Have Stamina

We’ve already covered Health and Focus, but our GTA 6 protagonists will also have Stamina, as again confirmed by TGG, who attended the previews at Rockstar North. Naturally, Stamina will be used for running, fighting, and potentially in-game sports like kayaking.

It’s also possible it could affect fishing and other in-game activities, but the extent of what it’ll affect will likely remain a mystery up until launch.
