According to the police, five suspects were linked to multiple thefts at the same REI store. While this is serious enough, the total alleged loss was nearly $20,000, with this incident being marked by repeated visits, specific merchandise, and even one suspect allegedly returning for a seventh time.
This took place at the REI store on Brannan Street in San Francisco, California. While the arrests were announced by the San Francisco Police Department on October 6, the first alleged theft took place all the way back on June 29. The arrests themselves happened in September.
The first suspect is 28-year-old Henry Le. He was accused of stealing nearly $6,000 in Yeti merchandise across 11 incidents between July 29 and August 31. His arrest was made on September 6. Henry Le was linked to the largest number of reported incidents among the five suspects, with police alleging 11 separate thefts.

Next is 36-year-old Benjamin Buckingham. He was accused of stealing $3,900 in duffel bags. He’s connected to three incidents spanning August 4 and August 31, with his arrest being made on September 23.
44-year-old Piero Alioto and 56-year-old Antonio Stewart are next. According to the police, the two worked together in five incidents between June 15 and September 8. They were involved in $2,400 in merchandise and were arrested on September 28 and September 30.
The final alleged suspect in the case is 37-year-old Daniel De La Rosa. He was accused of targeting the same REI store seven times between July 1 and September 30. According to reports, he’s suspected of stealing more than $6,700 in merchandise. He was arrested by officers when the REI store reported that he had returned to the store. While the police were able to recover $1,286.78 in merchandise during the arrest, that’s without including all of the merchandise he allegedly stole during his previous visits to the store.
