While people getting into fights or causing disturbances is nothing new, they usually calm down when the authorities get involved. However, one alleged suspect didn’t seem to want to do that. This incident happened on October 6 at the Winn-Dixie at 1541 N. Nova Road, in the Holly Hill Shopping Center, Florida.
At around 11:32 AM, the police got a call that reported that a man had trespassed into the store and was causing a disturbance. He was also reportedly damaging property, prompting the police to appear at the scene as soon as they could. The alleged suspect was identified as 39-year-old Charles Anthony Crowley, who is reportedly a Winter Park resident.
When the police got to the scene, they said that Crowley was behaving erratically. The police allegedly ordered him to stop multiple times, but he refused all of them. He then allegedly pulled out a large metal bar from under his shirt and struck the officer who had arrived to stop the disturbance on the head,
The officer was hurt, but he was able to get help from a bystander to pull the large metal bat out of Crowley’s hands. They brought Crowley to the ground, and an ambulance was called. The ambulance was for both the officer and Crowley, as the situation had gotten much more physical than was expected when the initial report was made.

Crowley Was Charged With Aggravated Battery
The injuries that Crowley and the officer sustained were reportedly minor, so it didn’t take long for them to be discharged. Crowley was quickly charged with violence, criminal mischief, battery on a first responder, and aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer. He is currently being held without bond.
The official Holly Hill Police Department social media account also posted the bodycam footage of the incident. According to them, officers respond to calls without knowing what awaits them, and the video also revealed that the officer’s name was Officer Cox.
