The employees who work at the Home Depot at 3469 Riverdale Road in Memphis, Tennessee, likely didn’t expect to find their store in the middle of an extreme incident. According to the Memphis Police Department, everything started on October 10, when two men allegedly entered the store at approximately 7 PM.
The two men didn’t leave empty-handed, as they allegedly placed tools in a storage container before fleeing in a newer-model black SUV. The police got involved and responded to the theft on October 12, two days after the actual theft took place. The police managed to get a search warrant for a residence, which they executed on October 14. The place they searched was in the 2800 block of East Hickory Bluff.
While the police were hoping to find the stolen tools, they found much more than they expected. In addition to a large quantity of new power tools that were connected to the alleged theft, the police also allegedly found six firearms and several hundred rounds of ammunition. When combined, all of the merchandise was valued at around $5,000.
The six firearms were recovered during the search warrant, but the police release doesn’t state that they were used in the Home Depot theft. It also isn’t confirmed whether all six firearms were stolen. Although two men had allegedly entered the Home Depot, only the 54-year-old Lavelle Moore was caught during the warrant search.

Moore Was Charged, But He Maybe Wasn’t Alone
Moore was arrested and charged with the theft of merchandise valued between $2,500 and $10,000, evading arrest on foot, and six counts of possessing a handgun as a convicted felon. However. The Home Depot theft reports stated that he had at least one other accomplice.
The police said that two men were involved in the store theft, but the release does not identify the second suspect. It’s unknown whether the second person was ultimately arrested, since he isn’t mentioned in the official release.
