How Do Robberies Work in GTA 6?

In GTA 5, you could rob certain stores for a few dollars. In GTA 6, open-world robberies are about to get a lot more intricate. So, from the Extended Look and the previews, here’s all the info we have about how robberies will work in GTA 6.

You Can Rob More Stores

There are a lot more stores we can rob in GTA 6. In the Extended Look, we see Jason and Lucia robbing several different stores, including a jewelry store and a bank. These robbery locations do come in tiers, according to TGG, and at the lower tier we’ll have convenience stores and the like (the only type of store we could actually rob in the open world in GTA 5).

The upper tiers will contain the jewelry stores, the banks, and who knows, maybe even another Union Depository like in GTA 5.

Smaller targets won’t even appear on the map, according to Rob Nelson, but you can walk in and rob just about anything. You will need to do some of these robberies, as Rob says that it’s an important part of the game, according to the video linked above.

Naturally, this sounds amazing – something I’ve always wanted to do in a GTA game.

You can also go for bigger scores even in the small robberies. You could just grab the money in the register and go, or you could poke around and see if you can find the safe and a code to crack it open. But every minute you spend robbing a store gives the police more time to arrive and set up outside the store.

You’ll also need to keep a close eye on the civilians, as they can actually attack you and try to take your gun, as we also saw in the Extended Look.

Finally, the biggest heists in the game are most likely kept for the story mode. We might not be able to crack the big ones (Union Depository) until you actually encounter it in the story.

Fences and “Dirty Money”

When you get your hands on “dirty goods,” which you can’t sell normally, you’ll see a new value on the top right of your screen, along with a duffel bag icon. You’ll need to take these goods, or perhaps even cash (in the case of marked bills), to a fence to move the items and actually get paid.

There are also vehicle fences, where you can sell stolen cars. You can also “clean” a car’s registration for a certain amount, but you’ll likely need to rob a few stores first.

That’s more or less everything we know so far about robberies, specifically. If you’d like a more in-depth look at money, check out how money works in GTA 6. Else, here’s why I think GTA 6’s driving mechanics will be the best in the series.
