GTA 6 has an enormous map, roughly twice the size of GTA 5’s, which means getting around Leonida can take a while, and you might want to skip the journey at times. Thankfully, GTA 6 features a fast travel system with multiple ways to get around quickly. Here’s how it works.
How Does Fast Travel Work in GTA 6?
In GTA 6, you can fast travel to different locations using public transportation or the Ryde Me app on your phone. Jason and Lucia can travel by bus, train, tram, and taxi, or use RydeMe to call a ride and skip the journey, essentially fast-traveling to their destination.
Bus stops appear on the minimap, where you can wait with other NPCs. Taxis have been a staple of the GTA series for years, and they serve a similar purpose in GTA 6. Trains and trams also offer additional ways to get around Leonida, letting you enjoy the scenery during the journey or skip ahead to your destination using fast travel. These details were confirmed during the preview event for GTA 6, including TGG’s coverage.

The Ryde Me application is basically an in-game version of Uber, allowing you to book a ride for a specific destination. During a Ryde Me ride, if another passenger is accompanying Jason or Lucia, you can choose to have a conversation with them during the shared trip instead of skipping the journey as well.

Fast travel in GTA 6 builds on transportation systems seen in previous Grand Theft Auto titles. In GTA 4 and GTA 5, players could take taxis to their destinations and skip the journey or enjoy the rides and take in the sights, while GTA Online introduced additional options, including a taxi fast-travel service and the Diamond Casino’s limousine service.
GTA 6 appears to expand on these mechanics by adding even more transportation options, including buses, trains, and trams alongside taxis and the RydeMe ride-hailing app. This gives Jason and Lucia more ways to get around Leonida without having to drive everywhere themselves.
Rockstar has generally favored fast travel methods that feel grounded in the game world rather than relying on game-like menus or instant teleportation. These public transportation options fit that approach, making it possible to skip journeys while keeping the experience immersive.
