FROM THE DESK OF KYLE
Grifters Don’t Run This Show
I’m still not quite over the hype of that Extended Look we got, despite watching it a good few more times. I even made my whole family watch it over dinner the other night. They were impressed, at least.
But not everyone feels that way, which is obviously understandable. We all have our own opinions, and that’s great. If everyone had the same opinions over everything, this world would be a pretty boring place. But when your opinion is based on a pretty toxic worldview, it does get under my skin.
I don’t like to comment on political matters. I think the whole left vs. right argument is kind of silly. Where I’m from, we have like a hundred political entities to choose from, all with different sets of values for people to relate to. Having just two sounds awful. But this week, I did decide to speak up. And since I don’t subscribe to the two-party system, I feel like I could present a very balanced view to the people ripping on GTA 6. If you’d like to read that, check out the end of the newsletter, under “recommended reading.”
We also got official GTA 6 controllers announced at yesterday’s State of Play, but, of course, most of the comments were around Sony’s decision to end physical media.
That’s not going away any time soon, and nor should it. Those of us working in the industry mostly get digital copies, since pre-release review codes are, by nature, digital. But taking away our choice to buy the games most dear to us in physical form remains a firmly anti-consumer decision.
I sincerely hope we do see a turnaround in that, and that Rockstar and Take-Two also open up a number of physical copies for GTA 6. Unlikely, but I’m really, really hoping for it.
Enough about all of that though, let’s get into the news this week, including the GTA 6 PS5 controllers, the catchy banger of the week, and the screenshot of the week around Jason and Lucia’s deep understanding for one another.
Please enjoy,
— Kyle.
THE HOTTEST NEWS THIS WEEK
Sony Reveals GTA 6 Limited Edition DualSense Controllers During State of Play
There’s no doubt that these controllers look sleek and sexy. I’m definitely keen on grabbing myself one, but let’s be real, scalpers are probably going to snatch up the lot. And that’s a type of behavior I just don’t condone, so I’ll probably hold off for a good long while on these. (I’m not paying a scalper, that’s for sure.)
They are a little plain though, and I’ve seen some fan-made controllers that are even better. Check out custom GTA 6 controllers on YouTube if you want to see some of those.

BANGER OF THE WEEK
Feel Good Inc.
Gorillaz · 2005 · GTA 5, Non-Stop-Pop FM
I was originally going to choose Paradise City by Guns N’ Roses this week, before realizing it’s not an official GTA track, even though I distinctly remember cruising the streets of Liberty City to it. Must’ve been my own custom audio, so…
This week we’ve got Feel Good Inc. by the Gorillaz, a virtual band that has rotating members. The track features a sleek melodic vibe, with a pretty punchy rap as well. It’s a great track, worthy of a listen:
Did you know that Damon Albarn, lead singer of Blur, actually wrote this song? He also contributed a fair bit to the Gorillaz band.
The chorus line, “windmill, windmill, for the land” was inspired by literal windmills Albarn passed in the United States on his way to a concert in 2003, where he also wrote the song.
SCREENSHOTS OF THE WEEK
Screenshots of the Week
The best shots so far — community, our own footage, and official sources.
This week we, obviously, have another official shot, since Rockstar spoiled us with so many since the Showcase. Given the thoughtless, politically-motivated hate I’ve seen GTA 6 get this week, I thought I’d go with an extra special shot.

In this shot, Lucia’s face is an unnerving mixture of anguish and anger. Whatever she’s just done, it feels deserved, but it’s also affecting her deeply.
Jason, stood behind her, can’t even see her face, but he’s laid a comforting hand on her shoulder, seemingly in tune with what she might be feeling. His face is smooth and serious as usual.
He must really know her and love her, judging from this shot. Not the sign of a cuckold, as some say, but of a mature, deeply caring man, and we honestly need more of that.
