FROM THE DESK OF KYLE
Still No Game Disc, But At Least We Got Something…
As cool as Rockstar’s little reveal was this week, I’m not happy. Honestly, I never was happy with the original music in GTA Online, but that’s my problem for having a distinct taste in music, I guess.
In case you missed it, Rockstar teased something through a group of artists, and then revealed a physical vinyl or CD featuring a bunch of original tracks from various artists.
Now, that’s fun and all, but none of the advertised tracks appeal to me even one bit. I guess it’s aimed at the younger audience, barring the legendary Keith Richards being on there. But even that song is a very standard blues offering that I find a little boring (sorry, Keith, I’ll always love The Rolling Stones, though!)
What about us OG fans, that were around to play the original game? That went through GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas? Don’t we at least get some music made for us?
And yes, I’m fully aware that I sound like a bit of a spoiled brat right now, but it’s really just disappointment talking. The era for original rock acts has passed, I guess. Still, I’d have loved to see some Mumford and Sons, Nothing But Thieves, heck, even Ed Sheeran. But then those are big, big names. The point, however, is that modern rock in all its variants still produces stunning artists.
I have a real soft spot for music, and I’m just sad that nothing about this album appeals to me. Hard pass.
But enough whining. This week we’re looking at how the announcement was done (oh so well), some news, and finally, two older rumors that actually came true.
Please enjoy.

THE HOTTEST NEWS THIS WEEK
GTA 6: The Album Revealed With 34 Original Tracks From Travis Scott, Future, and More
I already mentioned it above, but yeah, this is huge news, and it was really well done in my opinion. Two days before the reveal, cryptic images went up on many of the artists’ X feeds, and these images were clearly from the GTA 6 universe.
Then this banger of an announcement. It’s really cool, but I do fear that the Limited Edition vinyl will simply be bought up by scalpers. They really are a plague on modern existence.
And yeah, I don’t like the music on the album, but I’m still really happy that Rockstar gave fans something collectible; a piece of Vice City, in a way. I do hope there’s more to come.
FROM REDDIT / THE COMMUNITY
I haven’t been spending much time on Reddit of late, and I never usually do. The leaks gave me a reason, but now it’s fully back to smashing out fun GTA content.
This week, however, I took some peaks, and found a post worth sharing. It’s one of those that made me laugh out loud, and also, I can’t wait for the PC release, either. Not for the same reason, of course, but modding is always a great option to have.
I can’t wait for PC!

Rumors of the Week
Believe at your own risk.
This week, I decided to look back at two older rumors that actually came true. I have heard the first whisperings of another rumor — that an extended Liberty City is set for a DLC release for GTA 6 — but there’s just not enough there for me to officially cover it just yet.
PROVEN
Greet/Antagonise NPC system
There was some early speculation or rumors that GTA 6 would feature a similar means of communication with NPCs than what’s found in RDR 2. After the previews, that has been proven true.
In GTA 6, you’ll have a similar system that can either escalate or de-escalate encounters or conflicts in various ways. I’m really keen to see this in action!
PROVEN
GTA 6 features an RDR2-style relationship / honor system
There were similar whisperings early on that GTA 6 would feature an honor system similar to RDR 2. Obviously, this also has been proven, though it’s called a criminal profile and works slightly differently.
The point is, it’s there, and somehow, we called it.
If you’ve heard something, please feel free to submit your own rumor below, always nice to hear from you folks.
BANGER OF THE WEEK
1979
Smashing Pumpkins · 1995 · GTA 4, Liberty City Radio
After listening to those tracks featured on GTA 6: The Album, I needed something that I could sit back to, close my eyes, and feel the bittersweet embrace of nostalgia, taking me back to the care-free years of the nineties.
And that’s where this week’s melodic, bittersweet track comes in. Go ahead, give it a listen. It’s one of those easy-listening songs that almost anyone can enjoy.
This song’s bittersweet feel isn’t accidental. In countless interviews over the years, Billy Corgan has discussed the inspiration behind the song being that transitional period between childhood and adolescence. The title, 1979, was the year Billy turned 12, pretty much the ending of his childhood.
It’s also interesting that this chart-topping song almost didn’t make it onto the album. The song went through several variations which Corgan didn’t like, until eventually the producer gave him a final day to finish the song or let it go. Corgan went home that night and finalized the now legendary riff and lyrics.
With this final mention, I’ve said “bittersweet” four times now in this section, and that, much like the feel of the song, isn’t accidental.
SCREENSHOTS OF THE WEEK
Screenshots of the Week
This week, given the overall mood of this letter, I’m not capping it off with an amazing screenshot. I’m using it simply as a talking point. Introducing Bae-Luxe and Roxy.

This image is courtesy of Rockstar Games, and it shows what are bound to be the most annoying characters in the GTA 6 world. But, you know, that’s a good thing.
A GTA game wouldn’t be complete without annoying characters, many of which have become beloved over the years. Love them or hate them, Roman and Lamar are some of the most iconic characters in GTA.
We also have similar types like Ken, Brucie, and even Wade. If I’m hazarding a guess, and I am, then the Real Dimez probably fall into this category. They’re going to be loud, obnoxious, get themselves into plenty of trouble, and mostly annoy the life out of most of us.
I just wonder whether they’ll earn a spot on the beloved list with Roman and Lamar, or fall to a mere perpetual annoyance. You could also argue that Cal might make this list, but from what I’ve seen, Cal doesn’t seem like the bumbling, mistake-prone archetype that make Roman and Lamar so good. What do you think?
