Will Cheats Return in GTA 6?

One question that’s been on our minds (and yours, most likely) is whether cheats will return in GTA 6. Given the focus on GTA Online over the years, and the new focus on user-generated content (UCG) that Rockstar seems to be pushing, will there even be room for cheats?

The short answer is we don’t know—no one does. But that doesn’t mean we can’t explore the topic and come to a logical conclusion.

Will Cheats Return in GTA 6? – The Arguments

They’ve Never Not Included Cheats

From the very beginning of the GTA franchise, all the way back in 1997, never has a single game come out that didn’t include cheats. The cheat system wasn’t exactly streamlined in those first two releases (which both had PC releases, mind you), but it was present nonetheless.

Starting from GTA 3, the cheats took on a more logical form and were included in every single mainline GTA game since, so this gives us really strong evidence that we’ll get cheats in single-player GTA 6, as well.

“Leaked Game Files”

There’s a loose claim on an obscure website that the 2024 leaked game files included a line of code in which “cheat activated” was visible. However, all we have for this is a single source, and we’ve been unable to back that up. So take this one with a bag of salt. It sounds like someone is simply attempting to back up a flimsy claim.

We Won’t Get A Money Cheat

Rockstar omitted the money cheat from GTA 5, and we’re very likely to see the same thing in GTA 6. Hopefully there are some worthwhile missions we can grind, since there was literally nothing viable in GTA 5. The only way to make loads of money without a 10,000-hour grind was to play the market during the assassination missions.

Hopefully we’ll have a more streamlined progression system in GTA 6, where we can do worthwhile missions to earn some stacks as we go along.

GTA Online Won’t Have Cheats

This should go without saying, but for the sake of including everything, the new GTA Online will not feature any cheats. There may, of course, be exploits to be found. In fact, we don’t doubt it, but do be cautious with exploits—they could get you banned.
