It has been over 13 years since GTA 5 first launched on PS3 and Xbox 360, and it has since made its way across multiple console generations and to PC. Given Rockstar Games’ history of bringing its titles to a wide range of platforms, many players are wondering where GTA 6 will be available at launch.
With GTA 6 slated for release in November 2026, here are all the platforms Rockstar Games has officially confirmed so far.
GTA 6 Platforms
At launch, GTA 6 is releasing on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X.
Both the PS5 and Xbox Series S|X have been the only platforms explicitly mentioned in Rockstar Games’ official announcement materials, are clearly shown in trailer branding, and have been listed on the official website since reveal.

As of writing, GTA 6 will only launch on PS5 and Xbox Series S|X on November 19, 2026. It is not a cross-generation title, and no PC version has been announced yet.
Rockstar confirmed on X that the second trailer was recorded entirely on a standard PS5:
It will undoubtedly have PS5 Pro support, and whether the game leverages the console’s hardware for better graphical fidelity or performance remains to be seen. You can now add GTA 6 to your wishlist on the PlayStation and Xbox Store.
GTA Series Launch Platforms History
Despite Rockstar’s long-standing preference for launching GTA titles on consoles first, almost every entry has later received ports or re-releases on additional platforms. GTA 5 originally launched on PS3 and Xbox 360, before later expanding across multiple console generations (including the current one) and PC with enhanced editions and performance upgrades.

Even outside the GTA series, Rockstar Games has typically followed a console-first release strategy, including titles such as Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne 3, and L.A. Noire. PC versions often arrive later, but tend to feature enhanced performance, visual upgrades, and additional settings.
Just like previous mainline entries since GTA III, Rockstar Games continues to prioritise console launches for its biggest open world releases. Historically, GTA titles have performed extremely strongly on consoles, which remain the primary platform for their core audience at launch.
Earlier in May 2026, Strauss Zelnick was asked by Bloomberg about the PC version of GTA 6, and he reiterated Rockstar’s approach of focusing on core audiences first.
“Rockstar always starts on console because I think with regard to a release like that you’re judged by serving the core. Like really serving the core consumer. If your core consumer isn’t there, if they’re not served first and best, you kind of don’t hit your other consumers,”
As of writing, GTA 6 will only launch on PS5 and Xbox Series S|X. A PC version has not been officially announced, but based on Rockstar’s historical release patterns, it is widely expected to arrive later, potentially in 2027.
