(Spoiler-Free) All Rumors Around the Extended Netflix Premiere and the 2026 GTA 6 Leaks So Far

There were quite a few wild rumors about the Extended Look at GTA 6, set up as a Netflix premiere on 27 August at 3 PM ET. Then the leaks hit the internet and turned everything pretty much upside down. With so much going on, we thought it might be a good idea to gather it all up into one convenient place before the premiere goes up tomorrow.

So here are all the rumors surrounding this crazy lead-up to our next official look at GTA 6, along with its status. I’ve made sure to keep this article spoiler-free.

All Rumors Around the GTA 6 Extended Look

The Extended Look to Be Three Episodes (Unconfirmed)

Insider Gaming ran a story stating that the Extended Look will be spread across three different episodes based on an apparent screenshot of Portugal’s Netflix. This screenshot has since been debunked, and with the source being fake, Insider Gaming has since marked its story as debunked.

While that makes sense and is most likely the case, we won’t know until the premiere launches and we get the official take. For all we know, this might be some really coincidental case where we do end up getting episodes. Highly unlikely, but we’ll know more tomorrow.

Netflix Paid Take-Two to Secure 6-hour Exclusivity (Unconfirmed)

While this has been hinted at in a post on GamesRadar, I feel like this is more of an assumption than a fact. There’s a lot of assumption that this is true around internet forums, as well, but the simple fact is that Rockstar, Take-Two, and Netflix have not officially said anything on the subject of payments.

During the August 7 earnings call, Eric Handled said to Strauss Zelnick, “I assume for exclusivity, they probably paid a little bit of a premium to get that.” Zelnick did not officially confirm or deny this statement, instead responding with, “I wouldn’t normally give detail on sort of the nature of the back and forth or the terms of the arrangements.”

So for the moment, we don’t have any sort of confirmation that any money was exchanged, and I honestly doubt we ever will.

The Extended Look Will Run for Around 20 Minutes (Unconfirmed)

One of the earlier rumors surfaced on Reddit and contains a screenshot of an interaction between an AI chatbot and a Netflix user. In the screenshot, the user asks the chatbot how long the premiere will be, for the sake of their schedule. The chatbot then responded, stating that “The showcase will last approximately 20 minutes.”

While this seems like pretty sound evidence, there’s every chance the screenshot was faked, or the bot itself gathered false information from a forum somewhere. AI hallucinations aren’t all that common, after all.

Another outbreak on social media, which almost certainly involved a fake screenshot, hinted that the runtime would be around 30 minutes. For now, this has been mostly debunked and is only worth its own section if it ends up being true.

The Extended Look Will Be a Documentary-Style Mini-Series (Unconfirmed)

This rumor is hard to pin down, but a likely source could be The Dev Chair’s YouTube video on the subject, which went up roughly two weeks ago. It’s purely speculative at this point, but the looks of things.

Still, the fact that it makes some sense changes it from pure speculation to a rumor that might potentially turn out to be true to some extent. The rumor is that we might be seeing some behind-the-scenes content from Rockstar, which would be a first and would be pretty mind-blowing.

This could include developer interviews, behind-the-scenes looks at the development process of GTA 6, and potentially even more. However unlikely this may seem, it would be pretty awesome. We’ll have confirmation very soon, at least, on whether this one is debunked or not.

All Rumors Surrounding the 2026 Leaks

The First Leak (Confirmed)

The very first leak that I saw on Reddit was labelled as fan-made gameplay, and I was fooled. It was very low resolution and pretty janky in places. So while I initially thought this was either some hoax or a very dedicated fan building a cutscene in UE5, Rockstar’s takedowns later on pretty much confirmed this as an actual leak.

Further leaks all but proved we were seeing actual gameplay from the upcoming game.

The Hacker/s Have a Playable Build of the Game (Highly Likely)

At first, everyone thought the hacker or group known as Cyberleek had infiltrated Rockstar somehow and had snatched early gameplay footage. Rumors began to break that they had an actual playable build of the game. Yet another leak emerged where the player shot “LEEK” into a wall.

This certainly appeared to prove that the person had a playable build, as it would be a very random bit of footage for Rockstar to have on their servers. However, some pushback still exists, with some saying this person was a tester for Rockstar and had pre-recorded this footage and planned it all out well ahead of time, and no longer has access to the build.

As we stand, I’m quite convinced that they have a playable build, but we just can’t completely confirm this rumor yet. We have not received any official information or announcements from Rockstar on the subject, and until then, we should be very careful about what we believe.

Cyberleek Has A Full Retail-Ready Copy of GTA 6 (Debunked)

This one’s been doing the rounds on social media, too, but it’s almost certainly hogwash. That’s because there is most likely no retail version of the game just yet. Developers are still working hard behind the scenes to iron out everything before the release drops.

This term, discussed again by The Dev Chair, is called “going Gold” by getting certification and a “Gold Master” build. This “Gold Master” build will be the one we all play on release. It will likely not be ready just yet.

Rockstar Will Move the Release Date Forward in Light of the Leaks (Highly Unlikely)

This rumor, or wish, even, is all over forums that discuss the game. It’s less of a rumor and more of a wave of hopium, if you ask me.

The above video debunks this as well. There’s still a lot to work on for the final build, and only then can the game go through the Gold Master process, which will take time. So, moving a release date forward is not as easy as it sounds. It’s most likely we’ll get the game on 19 November, unless there’s another delay (which I really hope there isn’t).

Given the wild few weeks we’ve had, it’s only natural that rumors will be flying all over the place. Most of them, however, are entirely made up, with absolutely no verifiable sources. I’ve tried to keep this article to only the somewhat credible rumors, but if you feel I’ve missed anything, please do leave me a comment below.
