The Craziest GTA 6 Week Since 2022

In case you haven’t heard, we got several leaked gameplay videos of GTA 6 this week. By my count, so far, we had five, and in the last one that I saw, the leaker, “Cyber Leek,” shot the word “Leek” into a wall to prove that he had a playable build of the game.

He has since allegedly threatened to leak the ending of the game, which could be a bluff, since he most likely has a tester build, which would only be a slice of the game. But then again, in this crazy timeline nothing would surprise me anymore. Of course, it’s really difficult to tell what’s real at the moment, and these supposed threats are likely just coming from random accounts posing as the leaker.

The videos also appear to be from an older build of the game, but some of them do look quite polished, so I’m not really sure what to think here.

Rockstar have so far remained silent on the leaks, despite losing almost $3 billion in valuation as the stock price dropped by over $15. This appears to be related to the leaks, but it is hard to tell. I’m not a serious investor and I won’t pretend to understand how the market works, so I’ll just leave that for those with the required knowledge.

But I think that’s enough waffling for now. Let’s dive into this week’s meat and potatoes, which includes

Why You Shouldn’t Trust the New Round of GTA 6 Leaks

Alright, here’s the thing. We have tried to stay away from covering the leaks for several reasons. The first and most obvious is we do not want to incur the wrath of Rockstar, who we all know won’t hesitate to rip down our entire site at a moment’s notice.

The second is out of respect for the players who are trying to avoid things like this, who enjoy the element of surprise when it comes to exploring a new game.

That said, I did have to say something, and I thought I’d take a more balanced approach and speak about the so-called confirmed features that resulted from the leak. Just because a feature shows up in a test build doesn’t mean it made it into the full game.

So, for those of you who did see the leaks and are excited about some of the features, I’d really hate for you to be disappointed at launch. I really hope the Extended Look on August 27 answers all our remaining questions, so let’s wait and see.

I enjoy roving the GTA6unmoderated subreddit every so often, given that there’s a lot of humor to be found. This week, it was all about the leaks, however. Even then, I still found a couple of posts that made me chuckle, though one is from the GTAV subreddit.

GTA 6 Source Code has Leaked onto the Internet

I’ve seen several posts on Reddit claiming that the GTA 6 source code has leaked onto the web, complete with pictures as “evidence.” Of course, we can’t take any stock in Reddit rumors, but that’s all we’ve got this week.

But then again, given the week we’ve had, I’m not sure what to believe anymore. Still, this is definitely leaning towards a big fat NOT for me, even though it’s simmering for now.

BANGER OF THE WEEK

Arm In Arm (Shy Child Remix)

The Boggs · 2006 · GTA 4, Radio Broker

This gritty, mid-2000’s dance-punk track perfectly captured the nightlife scene of New York at the time, which is what Rockstar were going for with this pick. Both the artist and the electronic synth-rock duo (Shy Child) are from New York, giving the song a certain authenticity within GTA 4’s Liberty City.

It’s also a really cool song. I feel like I should be in a smoke-filled room wearing a leather jacket and shades, swaying smoothly from side to side.

But why don’t you be the judge? Give it a listen and see how you like it.

Fun fact: the original song is also well worth a listen, offering the same kind of vibe, but with a little less synth and grit.

While we patiently wait for the Extended Look and GTA 6, here’s another screenshot from the official source. We see Jason with longer hair, and Cal with his goofy grin stuck to his face.

What I’ve seen from Cal so far, I’m excited to meet and get to know the character. It feels like he’s going to be a pretty funny guy – like a better version of Roman from GTA 4. Hopefully we see more of him (and the rest of the cast) next week Thursday!
