GTA 6 is easily the biggest game release of the decade and, like previous entries in the series, is expected to drive console sales throughout its lifecycle. Rockstar Games has strong relationships with both Sony and Microsoft, and several of its major releases have eventually appeared on their subscription services.
But what about Xbox Game Pass? Is there any chance GTA 6 will launch on it or eventually make its way to the service? Here’s everything we know.
Is GTA 6 launching on Xbox Game Pass?
No, GTA 6 is not launching on Xbox Game Pass.
No Rockstar title has ever debuted on Game Pass or PlayStation Plus, and given that GTA 6 is the highest-profile game launch of the decade, Rockstar Games has little incentive to release it on a subscription service at launch, especially not one it owns.

Will GTA 6 Eventually Launch on Game Pass?
It’s possible that GTA 6 could arrive on Game Pass a few years after release, but it’s difficult to predict the future of the subscription service following Xbox’s recent “reset.”
Given the enormous demand for GTA 6, it’s unlikely Microsoft could offer Rockstar a deal compelling enough to justify bringing the game to Game Pass anytime soon.
GTA 6 is also expected to feature a hugely successful online component, and Rockstar has generated billions of dollars from GTA Online Shark Card sales alone. Because of that, it’s difficult to see Rockstar adding its biggest release to a subscription service while the game continues to sell at full price and generate substantial recurring revenue.
Rockstar Games Xbox Game Pass Timelines
Both GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 eventually came to Xbox Game Pass, but only several years after their original releases. Neither title remained on the service permanently; both were eventually removed.

Rockstar has never kept either of its biggest titles on Game Pass permanently. GTA V has appeared four separate times, while Red Dead Redemption 2 has appeared twice, with each stint lasting only a few months (except GTA V’s 2025–2026 run, which lasted a full year).
In both cases, the games arrived years after their original launch, making a day-one Game Pass release for GTA 6 practically impossible. Rockstar has consistently treated Game Pass as a temporary promotional platform to attract more players, rather than a permanent home for its biggest releases, and this is way after the main launch.
GTA 6 arrives on PS5 and Xbox Series S|X on November 19, 2026. While it won’t be available through Xbox Game Pass at launch, you can still pre-order one of its multiple editions ahead of release.
