Why You Shouldn’t Trust the New Round of GTA 6 Leaks

Another round of GTA 6 leaks has hit the internet, which I’m sure everyone not living under a rock already knows. You’ve probably even seen the footage, and, like me, you probably thought it looked a bit underwhelming.

I thought it was fake at first, but obviously, I was wrong.

This footage is clearly an older build of the game, and what we see in next week’s Extended Look will be more polished. But now people are taking the features displayed in this early footage, estimated to be between one and three years old, as fact. That thinking is flawed, in my opinion.

The “Confirmed” Features and Why They Might Not Be in the Final Product

The footage we saw shows several features during gameplay, but here’s the thing. Most seem to be taken straight out of RDR 2, so it would have been fairly easy to pull them over and test them on a beta build of GTA 6. But just because it shows up in the beta doesn’t mean a feature makes it into the final product.

GTA has always offered a specific experience apart from RDR, and realism hasn’t exactly been the goal. Hence, some of these systems may have changed or been entirely removed from the game in the years since this footage was taken.

Another possibility is that these features may be optional. So, for example, you may be able to turn the fuel usage, which is something I predicted we’d get in GTA 6, on and off at will.

You have to admit, though, that many of the features do look like great additions and should add a new level of gameplay if they make it to the final product. We can speculate all we want for now, but next week will offer us heaps of new information, anyway.

Rockstar Remained Silent

Rockstar has made no official statement on the leaks yet, and they don’t have to. We have an extended look at GTA 6 in eight days, and all these leaks have really done is enflame hype to new levels of intensity. Given the early nature of the footage we saw, I’m sure we’ll have our minds blown anew when the Extended Look goes up on 27 August.

If you missed out on the leaked footage, don’t sweat it; you missed very little. It’s been 4,719 days since GTA 5 was released, and eight more days for info feels like nothing at this point. So play something fun, maybe check out the games on the site, and wait with us as we eagerly count down to that Extended Look.

It’ll go live on Netflix first, at 3PM ET on 27 August, and will show on YouTube and the GTA 6 website six hours later.
